Lynn Provident

Math Teacher

Biography

Lynn Provident is an Ohio native who has taught in California, Ohio, and Tennessee. Her husband Jeff and she recently moved to Hendersonville. Her daughter is a senior in college in the Philadelphia area. She enjoys gardening, hiking with her dogs, and baking. Although Lynn was imagining retirement in the mountains, Canongate Catholic has changed her mind.

Her main subject areas have been math, English, science, and literature. She truly sees God’s design and exquisite purpose in all subjects, so she finds it easy to embrace a field of study and teach it with genuine passion.

She believes that students learn by doing. She knows that each student interacts with ideas in his or her own way. Her greatest joy in teaching is witnessing the “lightbulb” going on when students embrace ideas, taking ownership and marveling at the beauty and joy of learning. She excels in helping students gain confidence within a subject that has been a struggle, especially math. She was a gymnastics coach for many years and this coaching background has proven valuable in the academic realm as it is rooted in instilling a drive for hard work and encouraging persistence through challenges. After 34 years in education, she still possesses excitement regarding the teaching and learning process.
