“Sanity is knowing what story you’re in”
-Gurney Norman
Erick grew up exploring and delighting in the forests, streams, moss covered stones, honeysuckle and quail calls of the local region, and spending endless hours of work and play at his grandparent’s home in Hendersonville. He and his wife Kathy have their home on Erick’s childhood property in Horse Shoe. A former Protestant minister, Erick was led to the fullness of the Catholic faith and its rich educational heritage as an adult. His local family roots are now deeply intertwined with the even deeper roots of the Catholic religious and intellectual tradition.
As principal of Canongate, Erick seeks to provide young people with the opportunity to fall in love with things worthy of their affection, to attend to things worthy of diligent study, and to experience all with the joyful freedom that comes from an intellect illuminated by both faith and reason.
