Barbara has been a Registered Nurse for 40 years and still practices at Mission Hospital in Asheville. She is a member of the Catholic Medical Association and the North Carolina Entomological Society. She recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of her conversion to the Catholic Church.

Barbara has been teaching high school biology on and off for over ten years in various homeschool and school settings. This is her third year at Canongate. Barbara has been married for 40 years, and has two grown children and four grandchildren.
