DESCRIPTION:To celebrate Canongate’s patron saint\, Saint Margaret of Scotland\, we will be hosting a Feast Celebration with the students on November 16th.  \n\n\n\nOn Thursday\, November 16\, we will convene on campus by 8:45 in time for the 9 AM Mass (no 8 AM classes that day). Schola will be singing the Mass. Normal Canongate clothing attire applies. \n\n\n\nAfter Mass\, we will travel over to the Stillpoint Contemplative Ministries Event Hall in Candler. Be prepared to feast on a traditional Scottish meal\, toast your classmates\, and sing! Our freshmen will also be reciting poetry. If sophomores or upper classmen have a poem you would like to recite\, a story to tell\, or another gift of word or music to offer\, please do so. \n\n\n\nWe will return to campus in time for normal dismissal. Upper classmen student drivers may drive themselves and their siblings to Stillpoint and dismiss from there after the event. We will begin our time together at the oldest Catholic parish in the city\, St. Mary of the Annunciation\, and finish with Sunday Mass at the very grand Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. Below is a schedule of what to expect during our three days together: \n\n\n\nFriday\, October 6 \n\n\n\n7:00 am   Depart Canongate \n\n\n\n12:00 noon  Arrive in Charleston  / Lunch \n\n\n\n2:00 pm   Kick-off with retreat missionary Molly Pereda at St. Mary’s \n\n\n\n3:45 pm  The Citadel College Parade of Troops \n\n\n\n5:30 pm   Check-in & Dinner \n\n\n\n7:00 pm   City Market Shopping / Ice Cream / Charleston Night Walk \n\n\n\n9:30 pm  Return to Lodging  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nSaturday\, October 7 \n\n\n\n7:30 am  Morning Prayer & Breakfast at Lodging  \n\n\n\n9:00 am  Historic Fort Sumter Tour (includes 30 minute Ferry) \n\n\n\n12:00 noon Lunch  \n\n\n\n2:00 pm   Isle of Palm Beach \n\n\n\n6:00 pm   Dinner / Lectio Divina / Movie  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nSunday\, October 8 \n\n\n\n8:30 am   Breakfast at Lodging / Pack Vans \n\n\n\n11:15 am  Solemn Mass at Cathedral  \n\n\n\n1:00 pm  Depart and Lunch \n\n\n\n6:30  pm  Arrive back at Canongate for pick-up \n\n\n\nOur goal has been to arrange a packed\, meaningful trip at an affordable price.  Thankfully\, a Charlestonian with a unique\, newly renovated property was happy to work with us to provide affordable lodging for our whole group.  This conveniently-located inn\, available through Airbnb\, is divided into two sections\, one for the guys and one for the gals\, and each section\, able to sleep up to 16 people in multiple bedrooms\, has a separate entrance.  This was a great discovery\, and I think it will suit our retreat purpose really well.  \n\n\n\nSo\, the trip this year cost $120.00 per student.  [That’s $85.00 for lodging for two nights\, $25.00 for visiting Fort Sumter\, and a $10.00 transportation fee.]  Please make your payment to the office\, either to Mr. Allen or to Mrs. Hungerford.  \n\n\n\nAdditionally\, students will need to bring money for 5 meals.  [That’s 3 lunches and 2 dinners.]  Please note that students will also have the opportunity to shop at Charleston’s famous City Market for souvenirs and ice cream.  On Sunday\, we will be returning in time for students to eat dinner with their families.

Mole is originally from a neighboring meadow\, but one fine spring day he ventures away from his home and finds the magical life of the river awaiting him.

He is a prize scholar and Marshall Scholar from the University of Oxford working on a Theology of Money. He lives in Steubenville with his wife\, Alice\, and sons\, Blaise and Leo. \n\n\n\nOur second guest speaker\, Marc Barnes holds a PhD in Theology from St. Mary’s University Twickenham. He is a father of two\, the editor of New Polity magazine\, and the president of The Harmonium Project\, a nonprofit dedicated to urban revitalization and transformation in Steubenville\, Ohio.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a beautiful Advent concert presented by the incredible Canongate Schola.  The students will present O Antiphons: Lessons and Carols\, an original creation of director Jennifer Murrey. Based on the O Antiphons (also known as the Great Advent Antiphons or Great Os) which are taken from vespers of the week leading up to Christmas\, this is an interactive program of music\, scripture and poetry for the Advent season. Please join them for this lovely presentation between the morning Masses at St. Barnabas Catholic Church\, December 18\, from 9:45AM – 10:45AM. This will be a beautiful event for the whole family to pause\, reflect\, and enter more fully into the Advent season in anticipation of Our Savior’s birth.

DESCRIPTION:Students will walk along BMW’s assembly line and see for themselves how a car is built from beginning to end. This tour begins with the painted body of the vehicle and ends with the completed vehicle driving out of the plant.  \n\n\n\nCurrently\, BMW Manufacturing produces more than 1\,400 vehicles each day. The factory is the global producer of BMW X3\, X4\, X5 and X6 Sports Activity Vehicles and Coupes (and their variants) to more than 140 global markets.
